Indications/Uses
Hyperthyroidism.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initial dose: Mild: 15 mg/day. Moderately severe: 30-40 mg/day. Severe: 60 mg/day. Maintenance dose: 5-15 mg/day.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications and Precautions
– This drug should not be used in individuals with a history of allergic reactions to the drug or its components.
– Caution should be exercised when administering this drug to patients over 40 years of age. The daily dosage should not exceed 40 milligrams due to the risk of low white blood cell counts.
– Use this drug with care when it is being taken alongside blood thinners such as warfarin.
